| FORT YORK FOOD BANK FUNDRAISER
/ ART AUCTION
The FYFB was
founded in February 1998 as an independent agency of the Daily Bread
Food Bank Foundation of Toronto. They have evolved beyond being
exclusively a Food Program, as they now provide an integrated set
of services including Counseling and Advocacy, Community Drop-In
Centre, and Community Vitality. They assist a diverse group of recently
unemployed or underemployed clients by providing the services required
to reintegrate back into the community.
This fundraising event was about creating awareness and raising
funds for this all important organization within our city. The evening
consisted of performances, DJ’s, bands, and an art auction
of local artists who generously donated their works of art.
The VIP reception was held from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. where attendees
had a chance to preview the art, enjoy
beverages and snacks, and take in some great local performances
by Thane
St Andrew, Brian Collins, Nicola
Moore, and Pia
Bouman School for Ballet and Creative Movement. The
evening continued with a jazz-induced performance by Serafin,
followed by the soulful sounds of Rachael
Berry, indie pop by The
Glad Yeah, and straight ahead rock and roll by Anti-Hero.
DJ Alex spun an array of tunes throughout the evening.
Deputy Mayor Pantalone
opened this special evening and acted as the official host during
the VIP reception.
